After the religious experience of enjoying these headphones I feel the need to evangalize and spread the word. I have a closet full of various headphones, wired, unwired, laser transmitted and technologies not yet unclassified for public discussion.
First, throw away the wires that come with the unit. They are designed by Sony’s competition and switched in the package when arriving in the states. DO NOT hook them up to any head phone jack. Instead, I used Litz silver shielded two wire phone cables (about $175 per half meter). The connectors were designed by Swedish audiophiles, still designing valve (tube) amplifiers so that the excess heat can be recycled back into the atmosphere causing a carbon foot print. You must use gloves when hooking up the inputs. Find a 2 channel downmix RCA audio jack on your amplifier and use this for a connection. Head phone outlets are designed so that 14 year olds can affect a proper connection.
When you get the phones working, DO NOT listen to them for at least three weeks. Use this time to flood them with pinkish slightly shifted white noise at 27.5 db down from a basline measurement taken via oscilliscope at 600 milliwats per channel. Make sure you use a UPS so that the process is not disturbed as you will have to start over.
Now, your phones are ready for use. Place a Black Sabbath album on your turntable and listen for 6.5 hours at full volume. If the sound is not acceptable, your product is defective and must be replaced. Replace them with Bose music, I mean noise cancelling head phones and email me (Raptor45ACP@gmail.com) for disposal instructions on the Sony.
This is a brief white paper as I must get back to continued listening to my Sony wireless. The nirvana like experience is quite addicting. The lack of the cord is quite pleasant during amorous engagements with my wife and her twin sisters. Cord tangle is a serious issue as the number of participants increases.
Did you know that you can multiplex the listening experience on up to 4 sets of phones at the same time? Sony is almost a god with their innovative designs. Sometimes I like to go through the house and play “find the Sony” and count up the number of Sony products I have. The stack of 3 777ES DVD disc changers at 400 discs a piece is getting quite heavy. Keeping the remotes straight is an administrative nightmare! Perhaps one of the sisters will take charge of it on her breaks.
